Has it worked before? Can you post a screen shot?

it won't allow me to edit the words

That's very nice but....

How about a screen shot positioning the preview cursor over the generated event, and also opening the text event control box.

Q: Do any of the other text generators work? ie Legacy.

brad-collins wrote on 4/12/2018, 11:32 PM

the box won't even open up

no matter how much i click on it the box won't open

Try dragging a new "Sample Text (Default)" preset to the timeline. Does it open?

brad-collins wrote on 4/12/2018, 11:41 PM

I did, and nothing happens.

It stays like it is with sample text inside

If you can't open the "VEGAS Titles & Text" dialog, first use the menus to select "View > Windows Layouts > Default Layout" then try again.

Also, make sure you are attempting to edit "Sample Text" in that "VEGAS Titles & Text" dialog and not on the "Video Preview".

brad-collins wrote on 4/13/2018, 3:23 PM

nothing, Like i even reinstalled it, it will not let me edit the words nor will any window will pop up

Based on the initial screen shot, it appears the title bar of the media generator editor barely visible at the very bottom of the window. It is likely it has been dragged off the display at some point or you have changed the resolution of the display where the last stored location is off screen (or very nearly off screen).

If you are unable to drag the item back to the display, you can reset the persisted location by doing the following:

  • Close Vegas
  • Open RegEdit
  • Navigate to .\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Creative Software\Vegas Pro\15.0\Metrics\Application
  • Delete the entry named B2139
  • Open Vegas and attempt opening the editor again

This should reset the media generator editor back to the center of the display.

Would just the old unlock and move taskbar temporarily trick help in enabling to drag the editor window back? (One of the threads with the similar issues here.)

Wouldn’t ALT+D+D restore the windows layout?

It usually should. Reset too.

VEGASDerek wrote on 4/13/2018, 5:53 PM

The Alt D + D and reset cleans up a lot of things, but for some reason it doesn't do anything for stored location of non-default windows...especially the media generator edit window.
