The activation of codec failed - vegas 15

redpaw wrote on 3/10/2019, 2:34 PM

So, out of nowhere after working on a project this morning, when i opened the exact same project in the afternoon none of the codecs would activate. Obviously tried running it as administrator, that didnt help.
I de-activated the program itself and activated it again without an issue. i reinstalled vegas... no luck...

All the files open fine in vegas14.

I emailed the support, but because the deadline for the video is tomorrow i'm trying here as well as i'm not expecting the support to come back to me today ;/

So annoying....

Log into 'Magix Service Centre'  and make sure your product is deactivated.  ie licences are free for reuse.

Then try again.

Your licence/activation code will also be shown.

Best of luck. G

Thanks @diverG, but activating Vegas is not a problem, it activates fine without an hassle... (however i tried removing both devices before just in case - didnt help) it's when just want to load any footage into the project and when it tries to activate the codec... then it fails.. leaving it completely useless

Make sure your PC is on-line when codecs activate. This is supposedly only necessary once after installation, but sh-t happens.

Maybe a Windows update caused the sudden change.
If you are able to, you can maybe reset your computer (Windows) to the last time it worked?

I uninstalled all the recent updates... but no luck... Don't really have the time to reinstall the whole windows :/

Was thinking about maybe getting vegas16 but there's no guarantee that it's gonna work either...and I used up my trial time when it was released.

And of course to computer has the internet access and is online. As I said the program itself activates online just fine.

Just in case, tried resetting Vegas yet?

redpaw wrote on 3/10/2019, 4:02 PM

@vkmast you mean starting vegas with ctrl+shift... then yes, tried that... nothing ;/

@j-v even tho i didnt create a backup point apparently there was such an big update that windows create one by itself... and uninstalling updates didnt help, but rolling back to the version created automatically before that update did fix an issue!!!

i think it's the: Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1809 for x64-based Systems (KB4482887) that caused it... dont really have the time to check it out, as i have a lot of catching up now ;/

thanks everyone for the help!
