View->Windows Layouts->Load Default

My VIEWS menu does not offer WINDOWS LAYOUTS as a option. I am using version 9.0b -- would that be the reason? Am I out of date?

It's there -- but if you can't find the menu option, press Ctrl+Shift while you start the program.

Didn't CTRL D D work for that version?

I could be wrong but I think layouts was added in v10.

I still v8 loaded on my PC and doesn't have it. My v11 does.

The way to do it is Options > Preferences > Display > Display timeline at bottom of main window. Check/uncheck as desired.

@TreeTops, ctrl d, d is for layouts so, no it won't work.

ADDED: Sorry, I didn't read the OP's post thoroughly so my remarks won't help.

However, there should be a "bar" at the top or bottom of the Movie Studio window that you can hover over that causes the arrow to change to resize, click-drag to restore the timeline view.

@ treetops

It is Alt +d+d not control I just tried it in 12 I thought it was CTL also but it did not work and so I tried ALT and it worked to restore the default view.. :-))

So OCVQ try that and see if that brings back your time line.

MSmart seems to be right, the layouts were in added in v 10.

Just found a thread in the CCow forums though, where a user with a similar problem tells that he successfully reset VMS 9 back to default window layout by closing the program, holding ctrl+shift and opening VMS 9 using the icon.

This was what musicvid advised in an earlier post. The OP has not told us if this worked for him or not.
