Although you do not have VP18 activated on any of your pcs it will still be registered to your email address. The registration needs to be changed to your grandsons email. My understanding is that only Magix can do that, not the user so you need to email Magix.

Search the forum and you will find several threads on this. This one, and the links it contains, may help https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/sold-the-software-but-can-t-remove-the-registration--133392/#ca831686

"From the links contained":

"Transfer and subsidiary agreements

You may not lend, lease or sublicense the MAGIX product temporarily or permanently. However, you may transfer the license for use of the MAGIX product as a whole to a third party, provided that you completely remove all installations from your computer and do not retain any backup copies. You must then release all MAGIX product license slots in your user account and allow the third party to register the MAGIX product in their user account. If the aforementioned conditions are not fulfilled, any transfer of the license of a MAGIX product requires the express consent of MAGIX."

Thank you both for the advice. I will pursue this after the Easter break. Cheers John

Just wondering. If you purchase an “upgrade” that typically comes at a lower purchase price than if you purchased a new purchase license. So wouldn’t your original purchase license of prior versions still be tied to your current license of VP20 thus if you transferred the license of the older versions, you would in essence be transferring the license of your VP20 at the same time?

AFAIK, the only "tie" is that if you used your VP 18 version serial number to get the upgrade pricing, the new owner cannot use it for that purpose any more.

(From MAGIX Sales:) "only one use can make an upgrade from a previous version (serialnumber)."
