Transparent Text isn't Transparent Sony Vegas 14

Hi I have been having trouble adding simple text into my video for Vegas. Every instruction video I have watched goes to Media Generators> tiles & text> Drag Drop simple text. The text should be have a transparent background instead it is just a large black background that covers the video. I took a screen shot and highlighted the menus

It's transparent, actually, but you don't have a background on a lower track.

IOW, you need to have the text on an upper track.
