In MSP 13 you will find some of the Media Generators that you see in those tutorials. Use them.
There's no Movie Studio Pro, only Vegas Pro.
You can "Search Words": typewriter text effect on the forums for more as well. Select "Any Date" in "Search By Date".

This has been easily possible with the standard basic text generator since Vegas Movie Studio 6 (or was it 4?), when keyframes were introduced.

In fact, it could be done in Video Factory 1 (the first version of Movie Studio), if you didn't mind making a new text event as each new letter was added.

Sorry, I wasn't more clear about the software names.

Can you point me to a tutorial? The only ones I've found are for Pro and use features that I don't appear to have? (

This one shows Keyframing to be available in the same window as the Video Media Generator (where you type in text, select font, etc). I don't have keyframing inside the bottom of that window. Is there a way for me to access it that I am overlooking?

I've been using this program for several months now but I haven't tried using keyframing until lately. I just have a basic, beginning understanding of it. I don't see how to do this with it.

TY!

You do have the feature used in the tutorial you mention. Use (Legacy) Text.
You may be overlooking the Animate button at the lower left corner. Click it.

I missed the fact that I was supposed to use the Legacy text. That fixes the problem. Thank you!

I have been playing with this and I see now how it works. I wondered though if there is a way to apply a VideoFX (linear blur) and create key points for it to work for only a portion of the text event?

I can't find a way to use linear blur and have access to the key pointing screen at the same time.

Sorry if these are stupid questions. I haven't messed with the text beyond very basic things until now.

Click the clock-like icon to bring up the keyframe controller to animate.
