Unable to import .MOV files in SVP 10 or 13

troy-davis wrote on 10/29/2018, 4:17 PM

Hello,

I looked through the forum and can't seem to find an answer to this issue.
When I try to import a .MOV video I get the popup message in the attached file.
I have followed the instructions by installing the latest version of QT and the
message still appears. I have since removed QT and may try to reinstall, but
wanted to hear what the experts in this group have to say?

Again, this happens for SVP 10 and 13. Btw, I'm running Windows 7 pro.

Thanks Much!

That kind of files don't play or edit in my VPro 10,12 and 13, but do in 14,15 and 16.
So maybe time to upgrade and try first with a trial?

You might find some help in this FAQ.

What kind of .MOV file are we talking about? How was it created? I see no "attached file". VP10 & 13 will open many types of .MOV file.

I'm not sure. I think the video was recorded with an IPhone. I will probably get the trial of 14 or convert the files to another format.

If it's iPhone then the link vkmast gave you should help. If it's AVC from an iPhone then that's supported natively in Vegas from VP15 onwards. If you get a Vegas Pro trial now it will be for 16. As far as I know, you can't get a trial for an old version. And renders are watermarked and limited to 2 minutes.

Hello. Just installed a trial for SVP 14 and I still get the message in the original post. There must be some other step that I need to add to Vegas to get this to work? I'm at a loss.

Where did you get the trial for SVP14? The only current trial version of Vegas Pro that I know of is VP16.

Did you try re-wrapping the files to MP4, following vkmast's link?

Got it here...https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/downloads/
30 Day Trial w/ no watermarks.

I having issue with my .mov files being blank and also crashing vegas ?

Vell wrote on 11/13/2018, 10:18 AM

@Vell It depends on what type of .mov files they are. How were they created?

If a file is being decoded by qt7plug.dll, it usually means that none of Vegas' native decoders can read it, so you probably don't have a choice. Which means that you will probably have to transcode or re-wrap the file somehow.
