Unable to open a project I am working on

When I try to open my project, Vegas Movie Studio 16 Platinum crashes. A box pops up with a download for version 1.0.0.71. I have tried uninstalling the old version and installing the downloaded version 1.0.0.71 but it still crashes when I try to open my project.

Build 71 seems odd for the last build/update. Try downloading the last update for your software using advice in sections 3 or 4 here.

Sorry, it's actually 16.0.0.175 (I guess it's version 175). I tried uninstalling all NewBlue plugins and Movie Studio 16 Platinum and re-installed Movie Studio 16 Platinum v175. The software starts and stays running if I try to start a new project. However, if I try to open any of my older projects (all created in Movie Studio 16 Platinum) the software crashes.
