Unclear upgrade options for Soundforge and Vegas Pro

Kristin-Costello wrote on 3/7/2021, 6:48 PM

The web site says Valid until March 8, 2021 Exclusive release offer for SOUND FORGE Pro 15: Upgrade to SOUND FORGE Pro 14 today and get the version 15 for free!

The website now says "Buy Soundforge 14 now and receive Soundforge 15 upon its release ? I buy Upgrades to Vegas Pro and Soundforge as a package as I have for several releases. Will I get SF15 by buying Vegas 18 SF14 Now? No way to find out. Sony used to have telephone support for Upgrade issues.

Most unlikely. The Vegas Pro comparison page https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/vegas-pro/product-comparison/#productMenu states that SoundForge Pro 14 is part of the Vegas Pro 18 products (with the exception of Edit). It does not state that an upgrade to SoundForge Pro 15 is offered as part of the Vegas Pro purchase. In general, if a bonus, extra or upgrade like SFP 14 to 15 is not specifically mentioned in a sales offer and/or product description, then that bonus, extra or upgrade is almost certainly not going to happen.

However, the best way to find out for sure is to contact MAGIX Sales via https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/support/interview/

I do not have all the information, but what I have initially been told is that people who purchase VP 18 will only be receiving licenses for SF 14. No automatic upgrade for SF will occur and VP 18 purchasers in the future will continue to receive just a SF 14 license. My guess is that SF 15 would probably be part of a bundle for a future version of VP. Obviously nothing I'm saying is the final word on it since I am in engineering, not sales and marketing.

FWIW, Sound Forge Pro-15 does not have significant upgrades from Pro 14 to be that concerned about. Also to take into consideration is when SF-Pro is included with the VP package deal, the third-party audio plug-in are not included either. I would expect the same when Pro-15 is included
