Unlock Feature for Render Burn

Jaums wrote on 9/12/2012, 9:23 PM
Using Vegas 11 to burn a DVD using Tools, Burn Disc, DVD.

At the end of the rendering process, got an pop-up: "An error occurred while creating the media file . . .. The requested plug-in does not have the necessary features unlocked."

The production is about 1 hr 45 mins, HD. The Burn DVD window has 720x480-60i, 16:9 (NTSC) selected, which I did not change. The estimated size is 7.38GB, more than the capacity of the DVD disc, so it was my assumption that it would render to something that will fit, but got the error with no clue of which plug-in features are needed nor how to unlock them.

Do we need to render to SD that will fit on a DVD disc? Or would unlocking the features permit it to convert and compress as necessary to fit on the disc?

Or . . . . ?

Thanks!
Jaums

Or . . . ?

Render to DVD Architect templates, author and burn there.

I don't have Arch. I thought the capabilities of Arch were combined with Vegas.

I tried rendering my HD production down to 720, but got the same error message.

Thanks!

I've only used that feature in Pro 10 but my experiences with it have led me to believe that it's limited to a maximum of one hour.

Jaums,
you say you don't have DVD Arch.?? If you bought Vegas Pro 11 the package includes the DVD Architect Pro 5.2 software.

Using Movie Studio 17 Platinum. I'm getting this error when I do a Make Movie with my project. The error reads, "An error occured while creating the media file. The requested plug-in does not have the necessary features unlocked." Normally, it renders the project and goes to DVD Architect where I can create the menus. (Note: I am also registered with the new 2023 version, but I chose not to use it for this project because it seems very different and I don't have time to learn it for this project.) I'd appreciate some help with this. It takes 3 hours to render it and I'm coming up on a deadline. Thanks.

@david-w You've posted at the end of a ten year old thread. Your problem is probably different so it would have been better to start a new thread. Anyway my only thought is that the required codec isn't being unlocked. A once only operation but of course it requires an internet connection, so check you are connected.

Have you rendered similar projects before? If so and successfully I wonder what has changed to make VMS17 need to unlock again?

As for Magix Movie Studio 2023 you've probably realised it's not Vegas Movie Studio but a completely different product namely Magix Movie Edit Pre renamed.

Sorry, but I I am desperate. Yes, I have been doing these videos for a community singing group for several years, but I haven't done one since 2019 due to covid cancelling the shows. I generally edit the show in Vegas Movie Studio and then render it to DVD Architect to make the DVDs with menus. It takes about 3 hours for it to render and then I get the error message above. I spent about 20 hours editing it and so I don't want to have to re-do that using the new version that I have never used. I tried it for another project and I wound up going back to Vegas. I guess Magix really screwed us on this. I went into preferences this morning and changed a few settings and it's rendering now. Thanks for your comments.

Glad you got it sorted.

I have the same issue and have tried going through every preference setting available in both Vegas 19 and 20 without resolving the issue. Which specific preferences are needed to adjust?

Thanks.

@David-Meyer I've edited your post to tag david-w in the hope he will come back and tell us what he changed.

Could you please elaborate on your problem. Are you rendering stream files from Vegas which are then passed over to DVDA and the problem occurs with DVDA? What exactly occurs?

In DVDA Options/Preferences there's a Burning tab. Ticking "Use legacy drivers" sometimes help solve problems.

Lastly is your audio 2 channel or 5 channel?

Hi, and Thanks...

I am inquiring in regard to Vegas Pro 19 and 20. I don't understand what you mean by DVDA, that acronym is unfamiliar to me. My installations do not seem to have a tab for Burning.

I am working with 2-track audio.

I'm glad I received your message. Let me know if you have further questions.

Here is what I provided to Support at Magix, it should help you.

I receive the following error message whenever I try to export a file to an AVC [AVCHD] file in either Vegas 19 Pro or 20 Pro:

"The requested plug-in does not have the necessary features unlocked"

1.  This issue appeared on its own after I had been using Vegas Pro 19 for many months.

2.  Vegas Pro 20 has never allowed me to export to an AVC file.

[I have Vegas Pro 18 and it has always allowed me to export to an AVC file.]

I want to upgrade to Vegas Pro 21 but am hesitant unless I can discover how to fix this issue.  It has been a major inconvenience to have to render an AVC file in 18 that has been made in 19 or 20.  I use Vegas to produce AVC files the majority of the time, so this is very important to me.

I have included a screenshot of the error message and information on the system where all three Vegas installations reside.

I have looked at every preference option and can find nothing to fix this and have searched on the Forum and elsewhere online and cannot find a resolution to this problem.

Please advise as to what options I have to fix this issue.

DVDA= DVD Architect. It wasn't bundled with 19 or 20 though.

You may need to disable your firewall or make an exception so VEGAS can unlock AVC? Or try a reset or reinstall?

EricLNZ wrote on 10/2/2023, 9:07 PM

@David-Meyer DVDA - My apologies. It was the other David that mentioned DVDA. I got you mixed up.

You mentioned a screenshot of the error message and info but it doesn't appear. Are you able to post it?

AVC is a video only stream so at least we know it's not an Dolby ac3 audio problem.

Which render template are you using for your AVC? I'm a VMS17 user so not able to check what VP20 has but are both MainConcept and Sony renders available. If so have you tried both? According to item 10 in https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-faqs-and-troubleshooting-guides--104787/ Sony AVC doesn't appear to need a codec unlocked.

Lastly a reset as mentioned above by RogerS often fixes strange problems.
