Update to Movie Studio 17 Platinum fails and related problems

Here's what happened - with comments

1) I downloaded the update which took quite a while. The temporary file was NOT saved, which it should have been.

2) I selected the update now option. Movie Studio 17 closed and then nothing happened. I finally decided that the update was done and reopened Movie Studio 17.

3) A few minutes later I finally received the prompt on my computer to allow Vegas to make changes to my computer, I selected Yes.

4) The update started and then shut down, telling me it could not update with Studio open.

5) I closed Studio, and checked my download files hoping for the temporary file. which was not there.

6) I started the lengthy update process again, and made breakfast, and ate it, while I waited on the download.

7) When I selected the update now option I received the following error. Windows cannot find 'c:\Users.......\17.0\VMSPEUpdate.exe' Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.

The failure is more due to being able to successfully download the entire half a Gig update which chunks away at top speeds of 64kb data per shot and often times stops the download because the intermediary server packets are so tiny the software connection times out due to inactivity. I have had to retry the download in excess of 40 times before it actually worked and successfully downloaded in FIFTEEN HOURS! I can download a 5 GB file in under 30 seconds but this download is insane at how small the offering server allows the file chunks to parse out.

64 KILOBYTE chunks?? What is this 1988 all over again? Shall I get into my Delorean and go back in time to simpler days like in Back to the Future? Magix can put that stupid file on a DropBox folder and give us the access in a matter of seconds what it takes them to give out the update in a span of FIFTEEN HOURS!

Once the update starts then there is NO PROGRESS bar at all for over 3-4 minutes so if you are not watching your Task Manager window you have no idea if the stupid update even started. An average user may restart another instance of the update creating more confusion and problems for the update if they see no progress bar started. This simple process of offering a progress bar is preventable in bypassing a need for people to post problems and errors that Magix developers could have prevented in the first place!

DEAR MAGIX,

Please learn how to correctly do updates for your software.
1.) Put the file on a server that has fast access so we do not waste our time. Time = Money
2.) Give a progress bar from the get-go once the update (or even base software installation) of your software is started. How does an accomplished developer not know how to do this basic task?

15 HOURS to download a patch is inexcusable in this day and age and it is not our fault the offering server is gated and limited in its bandwidth allocation! Why would any IT server person limit a 1/2 a Gigabyte download to only 64kb chunks and after a few server hops that 64kb becomes a 16 kb normal dispersal? Is that person even qualified to touch servers? Shameful lack of skill...

To me it looks better if you do not answer problems on these fora with your own so called criticism of the methode to update to a recent build of the program.
Probably you have not enough controle of the Windows Defender in order to download the needed files.
May it is for you better to go to your Magix account where you find under your Products always the newest build ready for normal and fast download.

Did you try downloading through your Magix account?
