If you have your Sony VMS s/n you can buy Version 13 for $39US. A few weeks ago--you could also upgrade to VMS14 when released---either free or at a discount. I'm not sure if that still applies.
Sorry I do not see 14 as a free upgrade to existing Sony Movie Studio platinum 13 owners, as if you go to the upgrade site to ensure your Sony Movie Studio platinum 13 is the latest build they tell you that you can update it for $39 then you can have a free version 14 in late February when released. Since when did a product with the same version number require a paid update. What seems to be really happening here is you pay Magix an additional $39 to update your Movie Studio 13 platinum to the Vegas version which means they change the first part of the product name from Sony to Vegas. Then you can swap it for a version 14 later. Sounds to me as if they are charging you $39 to upgrade your Sony Movie Studio platinum 13 to Vegas Movie Studio platinum 14. Do not see anything free about that process to be honest.
femina, originally this offer was in fact (aimed) only at Sony MSP 12 (and earlier vs.) owners. For them it was/is a great offer. Things just escalated a bit. If you want to see some (sic) discussion about similar VPro offer, read the forum back in Aug-Sept. IIRC, (some of) the threads are locked. We do not yet know what kind of new upgrade offers there will and how they will compare.
