Upgrade path from Vegas 4.0b?

Hello,

I have an old version of this software that I'd like to update to Vegas Pro 12. My version is 4.0b, back when it was still owned by Sonic Foundry. It goes back a ways, and I know that the marketing copy claims it will work with any version of Vegas Pro, Vegas Audio, or Vegas Video, Vegas, or Vegas+DVD, but I'd like to know for certain if the Vegas Pro 12 upgrade will actually upgrade from software that old or if I would need to purchase a retail version.

Normally I'd email customer support, but I need an answer over the weekend. Hopefully somebody here will know.

Best regards!

'The marketing copy claims' that 'you can upgrade any professional version of Vegas' (i.e. the versions you list) to Vegas Pro 12 at the upgrade price.
You'll see if the online Store Qualifying Serial Number window accepts your serial number.
Vegas Pro 12 system requirements are here

You may already know that VP12 is only 64bit. You can no longer run Vegas on a 32bit pc.

What are your PC specifications?

That difference is exactly why I'm upgrading. I have a brand new PC and am just getting back into editing after some time away, so I thought I'd see about upgrading this software.

Thanks for your help. I didn't realize that the online store would check your serial number before you purchased it.

To add to vkmast, upgrade only really means price.

Both v4 and v12 can co-exist on the same computer, so before committing, install as a fully functioning trial.

Good point Tom. Good point indeed.

Will V4 work on windows 7? My dad had issues with Vegas 6 on Vista so he bought my Vegas 8 when I upgraded to 10.
