If I have the Vegas Pro 17 version, the upgrade price does not change? I think it should be definitely lower? Is there another way to get a special offer?
It's probably a little strange strategy. Discourages potential customers to purchase VEGAS POST. For similar money HitFilm is the whole package - and they are built on the same engine. Besides, Besides, I read the earlier post that with VP17 pays the difference to Vegas Post?
Thank you for the information. I understand that it can be attractive if you have the VP15 or VP16 version, but if someone has version 17, this is not a very attractive "special offer" (in particular, it includes a version of VP EDIT). This is irrational. But I understand that when I made a mistake buying version 17 without VEGAS POST, now I have to wait for version 18 or use another system ... I'm a bit surprised by the company's policy, but maybe I shouldn't be ... Maybe Magix will give you the opportunity to buy VEGAS Effects alone ...
The current info is that VEGAS DVD Architect is included though. You do not get any of the third-party plug-ins that come with other offerings of VEGAS Pro.
Otherwise, several users have expressed similar opinions.
I know because I bought VEGAS Pro 17 Suite myself. In addition, you can now buy a 50% BorisFX plugin. Also, when I started asking BorisFX for an update, they were very flexible :) Magix will have to go a long way to catch up with other competitors. Because I use BorisFX plugins (Mocha, Continuum), I am considering purchasing an Adobe or AVID Media Composer subscription that accepts monthly payments. That's why I assume that VEGAS Post will be a good development of my hobby - I still have a lot of sympathy for it ... it's still my basic video editing program.
@NicRAM If you are an extensive user of BorisFX, then VEGAS Post is a NO. As far as I know there is still no patch update for the interop issue between VEGAS Post and BorisFX. Correct me if I am wrong. Vegas Post will not work if you have Boris continuum installed (see my posts on the issue). There are some work-arounds (removing OFX files), which can make VEGAS Post work, but then Boris is dysfunctional. You could use vegas post in a Vegas project without Boris OFX files, and use another Vegas Project with Boris (recopy the OFX files), but not use Vegas POST in that second project. But both working together in the same project - no way.
I upgraded to vegas post, and submitted bug reports, which all 3 companies involved (Boris, Magix for Vegas, Hitfilm for Vegas Post), they acknowledge the issue, and promised a solution. But still no solution in a human pregnancy timeframe! Magix refunded me the Vegas Post, and I paid for a new VP 17 edit license (without Post). I do not need the suite as I have recent versions of newblue, Boris continuum, Prodad stuff etc...
@bitman Thanks for this information - I did not know about it, and this makes VEGAS Effect cease to be completely uninteresting. Although I hope they solve this problem because I think it is a very good way that Magix chose
@NicRAM I forgot to mention that there is yet another workaround to make Vegas effect work with Boris, although I have not tried it myself (so I cannot confirm it will work) and because I know it will make Boris dysfunctional to other NLE's than Vegas (as you do not remove, but copy the Boris OFX from the common location to Vegas).
