using a SV Platinum file in SV Pro 10?

Hi,

I've been using Sony Vegas Platinum for a while now. I have been putting together a project which i am half way through editing. I have been bought a copy of Vegas Pro 10 as a gift today.

My question is, is it possible to use the saved project file from Platinum in Pro 10? I would really like to use some of the features in Pro in my project.

I have tried dragging the Platinum file into Pro and it will accept the file type. However i cannot see the individual files on the time line. it just looks like one file. Is there anything i can do to make it compatible? i really dont want to start again, but i really want to use pro.....

From the SCS Knowledgebase
Vegas Movie Studio project files (*.vf) will open in Vegas Pro if the (*.vf) file was created in a numerical version that is less than or equal to the numerical version of Vegas Pro.

So if you have a VMS 11 .vf project file, you cannot open it in VPro 10.

You are seeing a feature of Vegas Pro which VMS does not have - Project Nesting. This allows you to nest whole projects inside other projects as though they were a single piece of media.

You don't want to do this, so you will not be able to use the drag-and-drop method of opening a project that you are used to with VMS. But you can still open your VMS project in Vegas Pro as you want to by using the other method - just go to File|Open... and select your .vf file.
