For the folks here that have used both older Vegas Pro versions and know about the newer Movie Studio versions, I like your opinion on what I might be missing or getting into by upgrading/updating to Movie Studio 16.
Hardware: SSD, decent RAM. Older video card Radeon HD5700 series on a PCI-E buss MB.
Software: Windows 7 SP1
I mainly use my current Vegas Pro 9.0 putting together some short video segments with transitions and fades that would have a total of an hour or so..... home stuff. With Vegas 9.0, I'd also capture Hi8 from an old Sony Hi8 camera via firewire. The input formats are mpg, avi's, mkv and AVC (HD) .264 stuff. Output is usually, to MP4/H.264 AVC or AVC HD, or to NTSC DVD for others to view at home on various devices. No YouTube or web sharing.
Some video is color corrected and I use Neat Video for noise as well as all the standard Vegas Pro 9 plugins. For audio, I'll use the Vegas Pro 9 plugins (EQ, Band Pass, Compressor...etc). Rarely, I'll put together a mix of audio music using Vegas for either MP3 or Red Book audio CD's.
While Vegas 9.0 is stable without any bugs, it is horrible for AVC HD (1280x720) with a lot of lag, pauses and crashing. It seems from my testing, Movie Studio 16 works great.
So, what might I lose making the switch from Vegas 9.0 to Movie Studio 16 Suite ?? Improvements between the two ???
