Vegas 14 Auto-Ripple Broken?

Kit-As-Was wrote on 12/13/2017, 5:08 PM

Just this morning I tried to use auto-ripple, made sure it was set to affect all tracks, lassoed some tracks, deleted them and saw the tracks I expected to move flush just shift a little leaving a gaping hole in the middle of my project. Can anyone suggest why auto-ripple isn't working? I've checked to make sure there is no other track filing up the space. Auto-ripple seems to work fine if I want to push tracks to the right but it is not moving tracks left to fill up the hole made by removing tracks. Am I missing something or is my auto-ripple broken? Thanks.

Perhaps there's something on your timeline in the lasso area but which wasn't captured by your lasso?

Does the OP actually mean events, not tracks?

I can't reproduce this problem. What do you mean by "if I want to push tracks to the right" ??? .. Am I confused, does "auto ripple" go right as well as left? I know it's confusing. I use to just turn it off as it caused me to bump things without my knowing. Now, I think I have mastered it -- at least going left.

Post a screen capture of your tracks. We might see something.

One way this could happen is that an event can get squished to a point that it disappears on the timeline -- especially if you are zoomed way out on a large timeline. Where ever the 'auto ripple" stopped (leaving the gap), see if there is something there.

Thanks for the replies. I think it was an anomaly. I rebooted the machine and the problem disappeared. I wondered about events being outside the lasso or hidden so I tried select all and then hit s to create a whole section to delete but still ran into the problem. What was weird was that the events moved leftwards a little. Anyway seems to be working again now. Sorry for referring to events as tracks. By move right I meant if the user selects tracks and manually drags them. With auto-ripple on other events automatically get push right as well without selection. That is what I meant by push tracks to the right. It would be good if auto-ripple could show what kind of ripple it is set to in a more discernible way. Wishing everyone here a Happy Christmas and beyond. Cheers.
