I've been trying to get the VEGAS Capture utility to work for two versions of Movie Studio Platinum. I'm on 17.0 (Build 143). I'm running it on Windows 10 Pro with 16GB of RAM. I have a MSI VGA Graphic Cards RX 580 ARMOR 8G OC.

The problem is, the preview window looks like this.

and sometimes it looks like this:

But it never looks like it does in the , which is like this:

The tutorial then goes on to say to click the ____ button to import the capture into Movie Studio. When I do this, I get the following error message:

I think this is happening because the files that VEGAS captures are all zero bytes long:
