Vegas Effects wont activate properly.

Erick-Congdon wrote on 12/12/2019, 1:03 PM

So I just bought Vegas Post 365, and the Effects program is still in demo mode, even after reinstalling multiple times through multiple methods, I still get a watermark over my exports. I've read some stuff on this forum about this being an issue and tried some of the suggested fixes (Opening the program through Vegas Pro, even after reinstalling. Uninstalling through Geek Uninstaller.) but still nothing, still in demo mode. Any help would be appreciated!

Go into Vegas, right click on a clip in the timeline, and then select "edit in Vegas Effects". Unfortunately the only way to currently activate it is to launch it this way.

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

I did that as well, still have a watermark. So I kinda don't know what else to do cause everyone says this fixed it for them, but it didn't for me.

Use Revo Uninstall (or a similar app) to completely remove Vegas Pro from your system. Re-install and make sure you use the serial sent to you for Post when you do. Then launch Effects using the method I described above and register it.

I used Geek Uninstall, and did the said steps and it still didn't activate properly. I also triple checked to make sure I was using the right serial number, and I was.

I had similar issues, keep trying. An update that addresses this is on the way soon as well.

My experience (you have Vegas Post, I'm assuming?). I had a similar occurance. My solution:

Reactivate Vegas Post, first by de-activating the program already installed, (go to help menu drop down, and deactivate is there).. Then close Vegas and reopen......it will ask for activation.

If you had, for some reason, a previous and still good version of Vegas, that may have been the version installed, or activated, whatever the case may be.

How/why???

When you first open Vegas after installation, the activation screen may show a serial no. that is associated with the "old" version, (and how would you know?) If you make sure to find the proper serial number (from website or email, etc.) and write over that which is showing, (instead of just hitting ok, which is what I did initially), You may get the activation you're needing.

No guarantees, of course, but this worked for me.

Tried that multiple times, still no luck. I had a previous version of movie studio once but its not even installed anymore. Plus every time I re enter the serial number I make sure to copy paste it in.

I remember now, it was the OFX folder that was causing my issue, I think it was the NewBlue folder in my OFX folder specifically that was causing the issue. Go into your OFX folder located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX. If you see anything to do with New Blue in there, rename the folder to something else. Try then to register.

Renamed both folders in there just to be extra sure and still nothing. Will Rename them back I guess.

The update dropped today (or will be soon, I see people posting on here about it but I cannot find a download link). Install it and try again.

I'm fairly new to Vegas Creative Software and their site so where would I happen to find such a download link? Of course only when its available.

Usually Vegas' auto-update mechanism will kick in and notify you that an update is available as soon as you launch it, and it will give you an option to install it.

Any update on this? Is the update out? I've been manually checking for updates for a while now while working in Vegas Pro.

Update 4 is not out yet.

Hang tight, it was a false alarm that I read about the update (that, or someone jumped the gun before they should have), but based on what I hear, it won't be long before it drops.

Okay, I had this exact problem. Tried de-activating, activating, uninstalling, installing, no use.

Here's what worked for me:

  1. Make sure entire suite is installed (Vegas Pro, Effects, etc.)
  2. De-activate Vegas Pro through the options menu.
  3. Run Vegas Pro again as an administrator.
  4. Activate using your Vegas Post serial number.
  5. You will be notified that Vegas activated, PLUS that an addon activated as well.

This is probably due to lack of access rights to other parts of the registry or something like that, this should be looked at and patched in future versions.

Hope that helps!
