My installed VMSPlat 17 doesn't have the folder you mention so it's something unique to your system.

It looks like an already installed plug-in is causing problems. Can you identify the plug - ins mentioned and disable them or temporarily move them elsewhere. Then after a successful installation move them back. I'm sure you will find other threads on this if you search the forum.

Right after I posted this, I actually got it to work! Right clicked on the install file and "run as Administrator" and IT WORKED! Simple fix... hopefully this helps someone else...i see alot of these error posts.

Thanks Brian. That could be helpful to others and I vaguely recall it being mentioned before.

I've taken the liberty of making your post a solution so it stands out.

Use VMS16Platinum. Use 3D settings SBS Half. Render to AVCHD Format Sony AVC/MVC. Obtained file not playing 3D image. TV recognise as 3D but picture with glasses same as without, which does not show double image expected. Looks like software reproduce same picyure on both sides.

Video hobbyist since 1980 with Panasonic camera, on Betamax and VHS, edited with first analog equipment for prosumers.

1999 Sony with D8 and Adobe Premiere. 2005 Sony with SD and 5.1 using Vegas 9. 2009 Sony HD with 5.1 with Vegas 11 and 14. 2014 Sony 3D and now trying Vegas Movie Studio 16 Platinum.

Now editing with Dell Inspiron laptop. Intel i7-3630M cpu @ 2.4 GHz 64bit with 16Gb memory. Windows 10 Pro updated. Files M2ts 5.1 Dolby Digital 3D AVCHD. Render to Seagate Hard drives for personal viewing. Dont do DVD anymore. Never done Blueray.

Think I am going to need i9-9900 very soon, new laptop?

I had the same error as Brian but Run as Administrator did not work. I replaced my hard disk and did a fresh Windows 10 install, and the same error number came up on installing Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 17. Eventually I found that it installed without a problem after changing my PC name back to the original name. It sort of makes sense because if you look under My Products, the device name is recorded there. .

@Paul-Perera what do you mean by changing pc name because still after running as administrator it wont work?

Paul-Perera wrote on 5/20/2021, 4:57 PM

@david-larry running install as administrator did not work for me. I had just rebuilt my computer with a new internal SSD. I renamed my computer at the same time. I noticed that the computer name is recorded as a part of the licence activation details held on Magix's website. I could have changed the computer name held by Magix, but I decided to rename my computer back to it's old name. Once I did that, the installation worked. Hope that makes sense.

@Paul-Perera @david-larry Another way is to go to your Magix account and under My Products deactivate the activation for the old computer name. Then when activating your VMS again it will activate with your new computer name. You have two activation slots as VMS can be installed on two machines.
