Vegas Platinum Pro 9.0 Crashes Importing mp4 Video

I've searched the FAQ and this forum, found some info, but not enough to solve my problem.

Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0b Build 92 crashes on a "integer divide by zero" error in mcmp4plug.dll.

I'm guessing this means something is missing from the mp4 container, but I don't know what or how to proceed.

I'm able to import this SAME clip into Adobe Premier Pro on this SAME machine, but I'd prefer to keep working in Vegas. I've got a workflow that works for me with it, and I'd need to learn Premier.

Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0b was last updated in September 2008. That was 9 (oops 7) years ago!!! ...and you want to know who it can't read modern MP4 files?

I agree with musicvid10, it's time to upgrade your software because the most probable cause is that the file containers something Movie Studio 9 was not expecting that Movie Studio 13 now supports; so trying it with the trial of 13 is the easiest fix.

Edit: lol... yea i guess I meant to say 7 years but had Platinum 9 on the brain. Anyway... 2008 was long, long time ago in "video years" ;-)

Back in 2009, when Vegas Pro 9 was released, very few people edited MP4s, so support was very limited.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions.
Can't get there without an upgrade seems to be the consensus.
As to using older versions, I'm unapologetic. As a working musician, I don't have extra cash to toss around. When I retire a piece of gear, be it physical or software, there is no more use left in it.

Why not use Premier Pro to render (convert) the file to a format that v9 can use?
