I may be wrong, but having 2 versions like that, assuming they have separate serials, would enable you to install both across 4 systems, since you get 2 systems per license (as long as it is a perpetual license).
I can't talk about it yet, but there's one feature on here that ties into the project archiving that is going to be a game changer for folks who work with other editors, fx artists, colorists, etc... Some of this will tie into VEGAS Hub (but not all of it, some aspects of project archiving will benefit every user)... making it live up to its name well. I wish I could share more, as this goes even deeper than what I've described. There's some cool stuff planned.
As for why they don't reveal more already, keep in mind that developers set targets for what features they want to include at launch, and if you go reveal every single one of them before launch, it creates big disappointment among the user base if some of those features are not complete in time for launch and have to be put off for a future update. As such, it works best to just promote what they know for sure will be ready, and then reveal more as it becomes realistic to expect it to be ready for launch.
One last thing, it's mentioned in the email, but I want to emphasize it again... VEGAS has now moved to a continuous delivery model. This means that the features you see on the bullet point list at launch are NOT the full features that are planned for VEGAS 20... many more will come in the updates that follow. In the past, new features would be set aside, sometimes for many months, until a new version launched. Now, as soon as the feature is complete, they release it. No more waiting for a new version. This works better for both the users and the developers, but it also has the effect of making the "new feature" list of new numbered version updates look a lot smaller than it used to be. Don't be disappointed if VEGAS 20's feature list at launch looks similar to your typical list of new features you'd expect to see on a VEGAS 19 update... it is not the full list. More is on the way.
What I am really wondering is if there is any (additional) feature disparity between products (not just between Edit Pro and Post, but also between annual licence versus the subscription models). There is pretty much zero visibility of that in the pre-order upgrade offer (or it's linked pages)
Features between VEGAS Pro Edit and VEGAS Post are identical, regarding VEGAS Pro itself... the only difference is the inclusion of VEGAS Effects and VEGAS Image as part of the package. As for subscription models, as long as the feature isn't online-enabled (such as the audio/video clip library, or the AI speech to text/text to speech services that use online servers to do their thing, etc.), it should also be included in the perpetual licenses. The only features that are exclusive to VEGAS 365 subscriptions are the ones that are online services. I have not heard anything to indicate this will change with VEGAS 20.
Maybe someone can answer this: On the upgrade page it does not mention EDU pricing, and on the EDU page it does not mention the upgrade to V20. Does the EDU upgrade include V20?
