VEGAS POST Suite

Just wondering if anyone can comment on whether the Vegas Effects and Vegas Image components of the Post suite are still being worked on or maintained. It's been almost a year since we saw any sort of update to them (as far as I am aware).

Given that Vegas Effects and Vegas Image are products directly derived from FXhome's HitFilm Pro and iMerge Pro respectively, and given that both of those products have had 5 or 6 updates in that same year timeframe to fix bugs and enhance functionality, can we expect any updates in the Vegas-badged versions any time soon? Or, I'm beginning to wonder, ever?

The moderator-created release histories:

AFAWK, we can still expect updates. I don't remember having seen any dates for them announced on this forum though.

A very good question @MikeS . Announced in July last year, FXHome (founded in 2001) has been bought out by a relatively new company - ArtList founded in 2016. See FXHome's forum re the acquisition at https://community.fxhome.com/discussion/56959/the-future-of-fxhome . Probably unrelated, but the update notes for the last HitFilm Pro update stated that forthcoming updates to HitFilm Pro will cease to have integration with Vegas Pro.

But ... I have a recollection that some months ago a Vegas staff member commented on the forum that Vegas Post development was continuing notwithstanding the change of FXHome ownership.

We have updates to VEGAS Effects 3 and VEGAS Image 3 that are currently being tested. We hope to release them in the next couple weeks.

@MikeS  You read my mind…I woke up thinking about what Vegas Post was up to, esp since HF is still pretty chaotic post merger.

@VEGASDerek  Thank you for your reply! I’ve been wondering whether Vegas Post was tech licensed from HF, that they maintained under contract, or whether Magix owned the Vegas Post tech and could maintain/dev it themselves. Sounds like the later? I’ve been on the fence, but if Magix owns it and it won’t sink or swim based on HF, I’ll ante up.

@VEGASDerekThanks. That is encouraging news.
