what do you mean by that? all i'm saying is that the text is stuck in like a box region and if i move it out of the box there's nothing.

I can get the same results you seem to be having if I attempt to move the text with the PAN/CROP. I was wondering if you had tried to move it that way.

would it work if i reinstall sony vegas or is there something i'm not seeing?

Does this happen on all of your text entries? I wouldn't reinstall until you have explored other possibilitys.

I guess we need the basics. Which version of Vegas are you using? (pro or vms and version number).

The OP does say "Vegas Pro 11" in the topic but not much else. If he doesn't have the last build (#701, 64-bit) of VP 11, he should download it from e.g. here just in case. The VP 11 list of bug fixes was several miles long by the EOL.
