Can you beg or borrow another computer to have a legit trial on that?

What is the problem with importing the VP12 .veg into VP17 and using VP17 to continue to edit the project unless it was due to 'extras' that came with VP12 that aren't compatible with VP17? But my version of VP12 from the time didn't come with any 'extras' other than the Suite version (a higher cost at the time) that came with HitFilm Pro.

In any event, even with a trial version of VP12 (or any other VP version for that matter), the total length of the project must be under 2 minutes in order to render it.

@Dexcon re trial restrictions, please see this comment.

Thanks @vkmast for that. It seems that the under 2 minutes limit only came into effect with VP15. As per the link, there was still a 30 days limit back then.

Nonetheless, it is interesting that the OP has used a trial version of VP12 which was presumably only available during 2012 - the year of VP12's release - but only used it for the first time a few months ago. Notwithstanding buying VP17 (if from MAGIX Aug 19 to Aug 20) the OP still used a 9 years old VP version for the edit.

I suppose that the question is, can a 9 years old trial version of VP from Sony days still be activated in 2021 if not previously activated. And if you've already got VP17 - why?

The 2 minute limit was indeed added during VP 15 (I was the one that implemented it). I believe the only restriction in VP 12 was a watermark. As far as the activation of those older products...I really do not know. While those older registration services are Magix's property, the applications are still trying to connect to the Sony servers. In agreement of the sale of the Vegas properties, a redirect was created and to remain in operation for a certain amount of time (but I am not aware for how long). If you have issues activating the app, it would probably be best to try to create a support ticket.
