VEGAS Pro 15 and other (open sourced) OFX plugins

GlitchyPSI wrote on 7/15/2019, 8:45 AM

As of lately, I've been looking into getting more opensourced OFX plugins to use within VEGAS and probably make my own, but I've noticed something that held me back almost immediatly, one of the main repositories for OSS OFX plugins has plugins that essentially just crash on VEGAS 15.
The repository I'm talking about is openfx-misc (Plugins bundled with the compositing software called Natron)
I find this particularly odd, as I'd believe that since OFX is a standard there should be little amount of issues across OFX hosts, and as I asked in the Issues section, it appears that there's properties that make VEGAS crash on trying to do anything with them.
Is there any information on what is not supported for OFX plugins in VEGAS Pro?

(Interestingly enough, HitFilm plugins work just like in VEGAS on Natron)

I've not had a problem with OFX plugins with VP 14/15/16 (and earlier) with well-known plugin companies such as Boris FX, NewBlueFX, HitFilm Ignite, Red Giant, ProDad, etc. Perhaps Natron, which I've not heard of before including on any Vegas Pro forum post over 10 years or so, is not completely OFX compliant.

@Dexcon there are a few earlier ponderings on Natron on these forums, e.g. here and here.

@vkmast ... fair enough. Perhaps I should have written, "... which I've not heard of before including on any Vegas Pro forum post over 10 years or so as far as I can recall. I've never heard of Natron before - it's not exactly been a mainstream issue on this forum over the years.

My wondering comes mainly from the fact that they're OFX plugins that work well in other hosts as expressed by other people using Davinci Resolve for instance, but not VEGAS

@GlitchyPSI … would any of the suggestions in the 2nd 'here' link provided by vkmast give a solution?
