Vegas Pro 15 crashes upon render - SOLVED

Jeff-Hayat wrote on 1/25/2019, 9:12 PM

Hi

I have Vegas Pro 15 on a W10 laptop. Every time try to render anything (audio, vid), I get a "Vegas Pro Has Stopped Working" error. No other box appears, and no other info is avail.

This is a legit version, which I purchased many months ago, and am only attempting to use now.

I am trying to get in touch with tech support, and am completely in the dark as how to do so.

Hopefully someone has an idea.

Thanks in advance.

Before you try to render what do you choose than? You have always to make a choice for a codec with a certain template before hitting the renderbutton.

You appear to be running a fairly old version of 15. So it is probably worth trying the update to v.461 before proceeding further.

I don't get to choose a codec. The app crashes before that point.

Ah, ok, I will try that. Where do I go to get updates? I don't see that avail in the app.

You'll find at the site of the compagny where you bought this software, in the case of version 15 that is Magix/Vegas

Thanks. That link is for v14. I have 15. Changing the 14 to a 15 in the url results in a 404.

Went to the main page, and found 15.0.0.416

I guess that's a newer vers; will try that.

Jeff-Hayat wrote on 1/27/2019, 5:12 PM

Ok, new vers; same thing.

I did some snooping around, and went to C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 15.0\x86\FileIOSurrogate.exe

If I r-click on that file and go to properties, it says :

Description: FileIOSurrogate.exe (not visible)

This appears to be the issue.

Thing is, I cant make it "visible", and a google search yields too many results about Windows not showing file extensions, which is not the issue I have here.

Any ideas?

Thanks again.

See if the link in this thread is of any help

Jeff-Hayat wrote on 1/27/2019, 6:21 PM

Thanks. Unfortunately, none of those solutions worked.

Jeff-Hayat wrote on 1/27/2019, 7:50 PM

Ok, got it. I figured out it was a permissions issue. Changed the perm, and all is well.

Thanks to all those who tried to help.
