Vegas pro 17 crash issue

Deven-Ramsey wrote on 12/29/2019, 3:08 AM

im having an issue where Vegas pro 17 would crash upon starting up the program. I double click on the executable and not a second later would bring up the ErrorReportClient. Alright here is how it happened.

I install the program

activate the product

begin program > and it works

start doing some work on it.

saved my project.

jumped back on the next day and it wont start up...

looked around for some recent reports on the crash

I don't have an AMD GPU, i have NVIDIA

checked to see if i have the recent update for my graphics card. its updated

checked if windows needs to be updated, it is up to date windows 10, version 1909

so i uninstall the program

reinstall the program, now it works

begin to work on a new project, 2 hours later im all finished i went to playback the whole thing, notice that everything is out of color all the sudden and it would shudder, i tried to stop the playback and its not responding...

closed the program, open it back up... and its doing it again.

I tried countless of troubleshooting on my end, read all the forums here but nothing is working... set it to compatibility mode, turn off overclocking, excreta...

Here are my specs

Windows 10 version 1909

Intel i7 7700k

32gb DDR4 Ram

RTX 2080 NVIDIA GPU

3 SSD 120, 248, 500

1 4TB HDD.

Vegas is currently installed on the 120 SSD

Here is the full error i get

Is this your problem https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-17-wont-load-at-all--118224/

If so jump on to that thread as the more info that can be contributed the easier the problem may be to solve.

You will note a temporary fix is to go back to Build 353.

Eric,

Thank you for replying.

So i have tried to do the cmd command and well this error is kind of scary to see "the module KernelBase.dll was loaded but the entry-point DllUnregisterServer was not found." so something is going on with my OS and iv reinstalled this darn thing three times already (dont ask why please) Im just not a fan of win10.

i tried to uninstall and reinstall the program again, still does the same thing not surprised.

Ill keep looking at the form and see where it ends

I tried to close background app like "Steam, antivirus software, utilities, so on

I see you have installed the Vegas program on A:\
Did you have a special reason for that?
The best is to install Windows and all your other program files to C:\,
and your documents , videos, pictures a.s.o. to other partions or discs if you are able to.
The best is seperated SSD discs for sources, rendergoal and temperary files

Hi j-v,

When i installed the program the third time i tried to put in on A:\ which is my 4TB hdd, C:\ drive is the 120gb SSD windows directory.

now im not sure what i did, but so far I got it to work after installing it for the 6th time. I want to say that maybe it had something to do with the OS or the DVD drive. I did install it back to the C drive and it started to behave now. thank you guys for the help. I guess ill look into that fix and post it here for future users who are having the same issue.

VEGAS Pro has stopped working error

Well I come to the conclusion that my new VEGAS 17 Pro really sucks!

Because after trying all the fixes I could find on this Forum and also Google, its still gives me the same "VEGAS Pro has stopped working" error window upon start up.

I have only one music video that I started to edit on this software since I installed it, and to continue finishing it, I have to remove and reinstall VEGAS Pro 17 for each editing session. Another 2 removal/re-install and I will be finished with this project, then this VEGAS Pro 17 will be trashed. A huge waste of money.

My Tech data:

Win 10 Pro, 64, with Intel i9-9900X CPU @ 3.5 GHz, 32 Gig RAM, two 1TB SSD's

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 (same error with or without this GPU by the way)

As poster above said, there's another thread about this issue and 5 of us have reported it there.

My advice, submit an actual support ticket so the team knows how many people are being impacted by this. I'm told they are working on it and the team has been supportive in the interim.

Thank you for caring, but I already went thru that Thread. I spent half a day fiddling with all the potential fixes. Unfortunately I have little or no time to waste for "troubleshooting". That is why is has been simpler (and less time consuming) to just remove and re-install the software. With all due respect, do the designers of this powerful (but JUNK!) software realize that most professionals don't have the luxury of playing with Beta (in this case Alpha) versions? Just asking.

fr0sty wrote on 12/31/2019, 3:15 PM

Do "most professionals" realize that Vegas works on the vast majority of people's systems, that every NLE under the sun has its crashing issues, and just because they are having an issue, doesn't mean everyone is?

The fix suggested WAS to remove and re-install the software, but to install the previous build until this build's bug that is affecting (so far 6) users on this forum is fixed. That fixed 3 of the 6 people's issue so far, with 2 not yet reporting back to us.

This professional has been running a business on the back of Vegas for decades, so I don't have time to hear any of that. If you've come to seek help, we'll help you, but if you're just going to blow off steam, you'll need to do that somewhere else.

Just to clarify, the "previous version" in this case means the previous build (#353/Update 2) of version 17, not version 16.

Thanks, I've edited my comment for clarity.
