Vegas Pro 17 Suddenly will no longer load videos or create new

EvenSteven-Levee wrote on 6/11/2020, 2:04 AM

running on Windows 10, I have removed Vegas pro 17 then reinstalled, still no resolution, removed Vegas again, removed all registry entries, rebooted and reinstalled, still no resolution. Checked my AVG Vegas is trusted. I have Vegas 14 and 15 on same PC they run with no problem but of course will not open Vegas pro 17 files. Keep in mind, this is sudden and had been working fine up until this issue appeared.

The error messages were sent in when they popped up. They did not include and error number

As it worked before, did you try resetting at any stage?

I've reinstalled 3x. Remove all registry entries. There are a couple of small projects which for some reason open.

If i try to import video, if crashes.

Reinstalling is not the same as resetting. "Reinstalling keeps pretty much the old settings".

vkmaste, Even if all registry entries are removed from Registry? where do I find the reset button?

I've clicked the default button... Does not change anything.. I am searching everywhere..

I've tried to use the ctrl + Shift button Click on Vegas pro 17 however, this does not cause popup to reset to appear. I then went into C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 17.0 and tried the ctrl shift click there and was able to get the reset button. removed all cache and the launched Vegas Pro 17 with no change. Still fails to load 98% of my completed projects and will not create new.

I did finally find a useful video:

VEGAS Pro 17: Fix Freezes and Crashes (EASY) 👨‍🏫 VEGAS Tutorial #71

Thankfully, I was able to reopen the current video I had been working on..

"Do The Right Thang" But some video files already would not load. once I brought them in the 10 bit .mov video cause it to crash.

What I did: Open Vegas Pro 17, Hold Down Shift while opening Preferences - then click on Internal (which appears only after holding shift) then go to box on bottom "only show preferences containing so4". then go to second box Enable so4 compound reader and change True to False. Apparently this works if you are not using any 10 bit video from iPhone (which apparently I was). There fix does not work for me. So I set it back to original state and again program closes upon opening.. The search for the answer continues

Finally resolved the issue. Apparently for some reason my system was no longer working with the 10 Bit Apple .mov files. I found in Preferences / Deprecated Features and then clicked on enable Quicktime plugin. This did not work by itself. I then went back to Hold Shift while clicking on preferences / Internal / then go to box on bottom "only show preferences containing so4". then go to second box Enable so4 compound reader and change TRUE to FALSE / click in another box to activate Apply button./ Click Apply / Click OK / restart Vegas Pro 17 / Resolved

I tried at least 5 other fixes which did not work. Resetting came in handy, thanks vkmast. The "fix it" video's are out there and they helped but I still had to piece it together after trial and error (that's where reset comes in handy)
