Vegas_pro_18_Edit vs Vegas_Pro_18

Hello, a bit of help please. I have VP16. Getting tempted to upgrade to VP18 ($249). The upgrade to “Vegas Pro 18 Edit” is $199. So which one to get???

I went to the Vegas web to find out the difference between them. They show them side by side, with all their features checked out. The only difference I found was two items: (1) "Sound Forge Pro," (2) "Vegas prepare". IF those are the only difference, then I would opt for the “Edit” $199, option.

Why? I already have Studio One pro and Reaper. Enough audio aps for me. And by what I read, “Vegas prepare” does not sound as something I would need. I am just a dabbler with video, audio and other things. I don’t use those apps for periods of time and I when I go back to them, I have to relearn the, and getting tired of that… BUT, like to use them when I feel like it.

I also believe in paying for a good apps if the price is right, but at the same time, buying stuff you won't use is simply silly. That is why I am asking this question.

I am including a LINK to a PIC that shows the products compared side by side: https://photos.app.goo.gl/4JyJpxannNPNmcYv5 (I did not find the way to upload a PIC directly)

Ok, I gave you the full picture. Do you people agree with me, the “edit” ($199) version is the one I should get?

TIA for your input.

Hello, thanks for your reply but is exactly the table I was taking about. But did you read my entire message? Because in the message I ask for opinions as if I am choosing correctly. YOU probably could answer me better than anyone, I on the other hand, I am not sure of anything... sorry... lack of experience. What DO YOU THINK I should get? TIA

If you don't need the extras that VEGAS Pro 18 "classic" has, just get the Edit version.

Btw, we usually just copy the Product Comparison Table url and paste it to the post/comment.

There is an "Upload file" button on the bar above the Comment box.

And welcome to the forum!

vkmast, I appreciate your help. ok, what makes "Vegas Pro xx" a "classic"? As I said, I have VP16, is mine a "classic"? I am lost in the terminology. Why do they call one product "Vegas Pro 18" and the other one VP18_edit?.. why "edit" it makes it sound as if it is FAR from a Vegas Pro xx product.

Ok, let's put it another way, as I said at first, the only difference between the two versions is SF14 and "Vegas prepare" since I have two DAWs, then I don't need another one, am I correct here?... and as for "Vegas prepare," I don't think my current VP16 has it. So.. see my confusion?

I think your understanding is correct and those extras are the only difference. The actual editing software is the same. Personally I just use Vegas Pro Edit, and have for years.

Sometimes the more expensive versions are bundled with Fx and other plug-ins, it depends on when you buy and the promotion.

I don't think Vegas Prepare has been released yet. link

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I think you answered my question. As you said, it depends on the package at the time. I did buy something in the past, I think it was VP14 and with a lot of other goodies (Boris xxx.. and others), but I never got to use them. So for now, I don't want to pay more for something I will most likely not use. And guess what, they changed the pricing today!... prices went up! (just checked), so I will not buy anything at this time. But THANK YOU for your help. Take care

Timing seems to be important : )

If you keep and eye out there seem to be regular sales. VKMast has a thread of just pricing updates.

Yes, I know, I'll bet my life we'll see sale prices again :) hmm I will check the thread with pricing updates.
