VEGAS Pro 18 new Build ??

GoToVegas wrote on 12/11/2021, 6:17 AM

Hi folks,

My question:

I only want to know if it is foreseen or planned that Magix will make a new Build Version of VEGAS Pro 18 to fix some small bugs?

My comment:

It's always the same story, your upgrade starts with a bundle of bugs which will be mostly (BUT NOT ALL) fixed near the end before a new version is released. But not one version is really complete working.

In order to improve the trust i would try to deliver a well-running software and only then create a new version. At Magix you buy an update from bugfixing to bugfixing. You don't have to be surprised if the customers run away.

There are other NLE options out there, and none of them are "completely working" (guessing you mean "bug free"). In order to have updates with Premiere, you get the subscription, and still get bugs that are constantly present and continually being fixed, but they still exist. Same with Media Composer. To do what you ask requires a lot of money coming into the company continually from somewhere to be able to do this. Certainly not someone just buying just one copy of a perpetual license of the software is enough support this type of R&D you seek.

So, you won't be getting any new bug fixes for VP18 (and you did not mention any of the bugs you've encountered). For me on my computer (sig), VP18 does run quite well for what I use it for and how I use it. For me and another person I know personally that uses the software in another country, it's working and we both are finishing projects. Name one piece of software that is "completely working" without bugs, hence, no new updates for it. Also, you've left out the infinite variables of computer hard/software out there where the problem could be the user's computer, or even user error in using the software.

When you buy a version of Vegas you are getting updates and improvements for a year, not a guarantee that the software is perfect. 18 is finished and 19 builds upon 18 with a number of bug fixes as well as new features.

16, 17, 18,19- none of these were new programs, they are all just refinements of the previous version. Now that Vegas is moving to a continuous delivery model maybe there won't be numbers after 19.

Only in the perfect world. Too many variables in the real world. But they are trying their best during the useful lifespan of a version. (Google "EOL".) Please see the MAGIX era changelog here

@RogerS VP19 perpetual version users will get all free VP19 updates.

VP19 perpetual version users will get all free VP19 updates.

I thought VP perpetual users are now entitled to 12 months of updates from purchase- whether it is called VP 19 at that point is another question.

There will be no further build of VEGAS Pro 18.

Run away to what? A bug free flawless NLE software..... Guess what : There is no such thing !

Thank you so much for the many answers in such a short time.

But yes, the other NLE 'are not necessarily really much better (bug free) i will continue to stay with Vegas Pro.

I just only wanted to know if I should still have some hope or not :-)
