Vegas Pro 20.0 (Build 411) is refusing to even open.

VraelJSP wrote on 8/17/2023, 12:11 PM

I'm trying to get a video out.. like right now.. and it's completely impossible because the program will not even open up.

I've uninstalled & reinstalled the entire program. Twice. Googled the exception number and followed the steps to give the best possible graphic settings to the program. Ran the program as administrator. Multiple times. If I don't run the program as administrator it fails booting up on the 'Magix Low Latency 2016' part with ZERO error message. When I run the program as administrator it gives me the exact same error. I'm at a complete loss and have ZERO way to contact Magix or get on a live chat with someone that can help me get this issue resolved in a timely manner.

Just curious whether they decided to brick the service because I literally JUST renewed my yearly subscription a few weeks ago and they want me to move to a newer program? At a geniune loss here as to what to do and I have no way of getting this video edited and rendered before my live stream in 37 minutes. Been using this video editing software for just over a year and it crashes all the time so if I don't save every 5 minutes I lose sometimes 30 minutes of my time redoing what I just did. Highly doubtful someone is going to give me a solution to this in the next 5 minutes so I can get my video done before I go live.

Sounds like I'm going to be going to Adobe from here as I hated this software anyway but it at least MOSTLY worked and I was familiar with the program enough to edit multiple videos in the span of an hour.

Low latency is an audio driver I believe. Temporarily uninstall SoundForge and see if Vegas works? If it still fails try resetting VEGAS by holding down control and shift on startup.

I use soundforge to record all of my voiceovers, so hopefully it doesn't have to remain uninstalled? I'll try this once I'm done streaming but as for support...:

Forum: Estimated time 1 day.
Support: Estimated time 2-4 days.

This is completely unacceptable from a company.
Where's live chat?

Sound Forge is now a MAGIX product. MAGIX Support starts from here: https://www.magix.info/us/support/ (Click "Audio" to see Sound Forge.) Don't know if they have Live Chat. @rraud ?

VEGAS Support options are quoted here: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/ask-support-updated--120281/#ca860645

My issue is with Vegas Pro not launching. I came here from Magix Support I'm fully aware how to get there. You're saying Sound Forge, a completely different program, is causing Vegas Pro not to launch? Because I'll admit I didn't even consider checking that complete other program to see if it was causing Vegas not to launch. Especially considering I didn't even have Sound Forge up and running when the failed Vegas Pro launches were occuring...

This actually worked. Shame. I use SoundForge for all of my voiceovers, and pay for it as part of the yearly subscription for Vegas Pro, but it was literally making Vegas Pro not be able to launch?

Is there another workaround for this or do I just need to find another audio recording solution?

The 'Magix Low Latency 2016 driver' (installed with Sound Forge Audio Studio) is known to cause problems and can be removed. Uninstalling SFAS should not be necessary. See this comment in the Magix SF forum to remove it:
https://www.magix.info/us/forum/audio-issue--1290482/#ca1738999.
FWIW, Sound Forge Pro does not install the Low Latency driver.

Don't know if they have (Sound Forge) Live Chat. @rraud ?

I do not see anything about about Live Chat for Sound Forge .. or Vegas for that matter. It used to be an option for both though.

@rraud not much if anything about Live Chat at the website, but AFAIK the following should be true ATM:

"Online Live Chat (mainly for pre-sales and registration help) is available from Monday to Friday 12 p.m.-4 p.m. U.S. Central (CDT/GMT-5 until Nov. 6, 2022, after that CST/GMT-6 until March 12, 2023). Go to www.vegascreativesoftware.com/support and use the chat widget in the lower-right-hand corner to chat directly with a support rep.

Edit: now CDT (GMT -5h) from March 12, 2023 until November 5, 2023.

(Note: It's also possible that Live Chat is available at other times, e.g. some hours during European daytime, now as well.)"

Your best option maybe toby SoundForge Pro which does not install the Magix Low Latency 2016 driver.

(Intel 3rd gen i5@4.1GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, 1080Ti GPU, Windows 10) Not now used with Vegas.

13th gen i913900K - water cooled, 96GB RAM, 4TB M2 drive, 4TB games SSD, 2TB video SSD, GPU RTX 4080 Super, Windows 11 pro

Online Live Chat (mainly for pre-sales and registration help)

That could be the case @vkmast. Thanks. I did not see that for 'pre-sales and registration'.

Your best option maybe to buy Sound Forge Pro

I do not think that is necessary if the low latency driver is removed using Magix's instructions.
SF Pro does have some nice features though. The recording UI is the same in Audio Studio and Pro.
