This is my first post here so sorry if this has already been discussed. I have just bought vegas pro 21 edit - upgraded from an ancient version. I thought this came with voice to caption software but when I try to add it in the programme it says I need a subscription to vegas 365, is this correct.
That is correct, the online features like speech to text require 365.

.thank you I think I'll give that a go, I got confused by the number of options.. Now i get it.
Before you do that, keep in mind there's also the VEGAS "Smartscription" plan, which comes with the benefits of being able to actually own (not just rent) your software, but also gives you 2 years of the online features as well (and 2 years of upgrades, so if a new version of VEGAS is released during your 2 year term, you get that without having to pay for it).
Please keep in mind you don't get the perpetual license until after the 2 year period has ended and you choose to not renew your subscription, otherwise it will renew for another 2 years (If my memory serves me correctly).
It's a good way to get access to all the cool VEGAS Hub online features, like the voice to text, text to speech, the online content library with audio and video clips to use in your projects, the online cloud storage, the app for transferring video from your phone directly to VEGAS, etc... but with getting to keep your software forever if you choose to cancel once the 2 years is up.
The 365+SmartScription product page outlines "All you need to know about SmartScription". In that section there be sure to click "+Show more".for important details of benefits (and terms and conditions including cancellation and download of the perpetual version), Essential reading.
And you'll see the following info in the website's Online Shop IF you click the circled "i".
"Subscription and Cancellation Conditions Your VEGAS Pro 365+ is available to you immediately after receipt of payment and activation. The price for the minimum term of 24 months is to be paid as a one-time upfront payment. The minimum term begins on the date of the order. VEGAS Pro 365+ is then automatically extended by 12 months until you decide to unsubscribe. VEGAS Pro 365+ will grant you subscription benefits at least until the end of the first minimum term (24 months), after that you will be able to decide whether you want to extend or unsubscribe. Cancellation is possible up to 1 month before the end of the term or of the extension period. Should the extension fee or the taxes contained change, you will be informed in proper advance."
