VEGAS Pro hangs: "Initializing GPU-accelerated video processing"

I had to remove my NVIDIA video card, it is defective. When I tried to start Vegas Pro 17, it now hangs while the splash screen displays "Initializing GPU-accelerated video processing". I tried starting the program with Ctrl-Shift, and reinstalling the program, but no luck.

I have both Vegas 14 and 16 installed, and both will start happily. My ASUS motherboard has an Intel HD Graphics 630 card built in. It has the latest available driver. I run Windows 10 Home, with the latest updates.

I'm guessing there is a setting in Vegas 17 that is recorded in my registry? Anyone know how to get around this problem?

Uninstall VP17 and install the latest VP17 Build421 - again?

Ah, the I/O Tab in preferences, but you can’t start VP17 to get to it....?

The shorter resetting advice is in this forum FAQ which includes a link to the MSZ advice as well.
