When I click to go buy Vegas pro 365, it says that the payment will be 19.99, but when I check out it is 143 dollars. Why does it even say that up front if that is not what I am gonna pay for?
You have proably got the annual subscription payment option chosen as that is the default payment in the multi-choice field. If you click on the little blue arrow, you will see all four options including the pay by the month option:
Maybe the OP was expecting to buy Vegas Pro outright for $19.99 USD or to subscribe for $19.99 USD pa.
Currently there are two annual subscription "payment plans".to choose from in the website's Online Shop: the yearly and monthly payment plan. Please click and read "Purchasing details" before making your decision, There is in both plans this statement: "The charge for the minimum term is payable as a single sum upon conclusion of the contract." Not sure what that means as regards paying monthly. I wonder if that option actually exists (see the SEM site comment below).
Btw, note that this week's Online Shop update moved "Upgrade" from the dropdown menu to a separate box.

I could not find the annual subscription (monthly payment) option there. And the Edit 365 monthly subscription is valid only until March 2, 2022 (the same at the product pages).
