Vegas Pro Unable to Run

sdadadadad-sd wrote on 8/3/2021, 2:30 PM

So I was using Vegas Pro 16 Edit Steam Edition while a thunderstorm was going on and then the power cut out, then I tried to log back into the software and the Messages I got were

- Error Code 59
- An error occurred when starting VEGAS PRO, There is no license to use this software

Its on the most recent update before I posted this, I did not pirate Vegas Pro 16, I bought it near the end of 2018. I've tried installing it on different Drives, I've tried restarting steam, I've tried turning my PC on and off, and I honestly have no clue what to do. I've had it happen before but the only thing it did was not save my progress.

is there a way I can fix this to make it so it can work?
is it possible I can get a refund on it (I think ik the answer but I'm just wondering for how I might be able to fix this)
would any or all of the files that I used on the program be corrupted (I have a gut feeling the one I was working on is corrupted which if that's the case isn't the end of the world)

I don't know how to fix the issue and I hope that Im not blacklisted because of a miss-communication of my copy of Vegas Pro 16 Edit Steam Edition

C:\Program Files\VEGAS\Software Name\

'Software Name' I suggest means that you use the name of your Vegas product such as Vegas Pro 16.0 in your case - so the directory to look for will be C:\Program Files\VEGAS\Vegas Pro 16.0.

Vegas should automatically install in C:\Program Files\Vegas. Your first post states that you have tried installing onto different drives; maybe this is confusing your system. I suspect a thorough cleanup/uninstall is now rrquired.

Not sure what a steam edition is but I have bought vegas 'humble bundles' offers in the past, Looking through my Magix account all products seem registered and installation files are available for download plus serial numbers are listed.

I presume you do not have an 'off pc' system image that you have forgotten about. Well worth having as you can be up & running in 20 minutes.

Best of luck

Just maybe you need to go into your magix account and deactivate Vegas from there. With the various installs you have made you will have exceeded your allowance of 2.

For Steam Edition, it will be installed to Steam's library folder:

which by default, it goes to c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam \steamapps\common

Try go via Steam app, uninstall and reinstall.

@sdadadadad-sd As per Jack S, It would help other 'steam' users with same/similar problems.
