Vegas Pro Upgrade

star_wyvern wrote on 8/27/2018, 8:11 PM

Hello,

I just got the upgrade from Vegas Pro 15 Suite to 16. I have everything installed for 15. Do I need to Deactivate Vegas 15 and uninstall all the software THEN install 16 and re-enter all the information in the email I received from Magix? What is the upgrade process from a previous version to the newest version? Or is it possible to run the installer for 16 and select all the additional items and run the installer like normal? Will it know a previous version is installed and run an unistaller? Thank you!

It's up to you.
If you only want to have 16, deïnstall 15 by hand and install 16.
If you want both, install only 16, you can use both at the same time.

No, 16 will not uninstall 15. Here om my machine 15 and 16 co-exist well and you may run the one or the other without problems.

Also if you have some special settings it is nice to start both and then see the properties in 15 while setting the 16 properties to the same values.

Thank you for the replies. I am also wondering do I need to install DVD Architect again? I received a different serial number with the latest email that I got from Magix. I just don't want to mess up either installation. I am thinking I will just install 16 alongside 15 and use both for a while until I am used to 16.

BUT this gentleman upgraded to vegas16 Suite, is that what you have?

I thought I read about boris deactivating plugins in vegas 15 when installing 16. This rollout of vegas 16 has been quite the cluster F.

@Former user That is what I am wondering about. I have the full 15 Suite installed and would like to install everything in 16 as well. Will this conflict? Or would it be easier to uninstall 15 fully then install 16?

No need to uninstall VP15 Suite. They can both co-exist on your PC.

Also, if I activate 16 alongside 15 on the same computer does that use up my 2 license spots?

@star_wyvern see your Magix Account, My Products, your Magix software, Show more details for your "license spots".

Also whats useful is to deactivate from within the Help menu of VP, just make sure you’re online, then uninstall the software, if you wish to. When you go to your Magix account online you’ll find its already had the licence released for further use on another machine.

Are all of the extras from VP15 Suite usable within VP16 Suite installation? None of those things go are lost in the upgrade, right? And none of them require new license or payment, right?
