Video Preview Glitches

Chase-Deleon wrote on 1/8/2026, 12:01 PM

I'm apologizing beforehand for my lack of knowledge about Vegas Pro and computers in general.

I've been using Vegas Pro for years and have updated the program all the way up to date (Vegas Pro 23). Recently despite changing absolutely nothing, all the sudden my video preview has been having all sorts of issues that are also showing up when I go to render my video. I make very simple 1080p YouTube videos so it's nothing power hungry at all. I have tried changing several preferences, settings and formats but I still haven't been able to fix the issues. At this point I'm not sure if it's a computer issue or a Vegas issue, I've been using this same computer for 6 years with no problems.

What's happening is when I go play a clip, it will show it normally in the preview for the first couple seconds before showing a completely different portion of the same clip. Sometimes going back to the beginning will fix it and allow it to play and render normally but it almost always happens when I'm cutting clips up.

Would be helpful for some info on your PC and the media you are using.

Welcome to the club. Because of this and similar problems, I stayed with Vp21 b208.

That's probably what I'm gonna have to do as well, I've tried everything. Do you know how I could downgrade from VP23 to VP21? Are there download links somewhere? I appreciate your response.

@Chase-Deleon I have similar problems with my previews in Vegas Pro 23 when using certain effects such as Slow Motion. What fixed it for me was setting Dynamic Ram Preview to 0 MB. Of course I can't build a ram preview after doing that.

Intel Core i7 10700K CPU @ 3.80GHz (to 4.65GHz), NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8GBytes. Memory 32 GBytes DDR4. Also Intel UHD Graphics 630. Mainboard: Dell Inc. PCI-Express 3.0 (8.0 GT/s) Comet Lake. Bench CPU Multi Thread: 5500.5 per CPU-Z.

Vegas Pro 21.0 (Build 108) with Mocha Vegas

Windows 11 not pro

It must be version Vp21 b208. Newer updates already have bugs.

Does the setting dynamic ram preview to 0MB workaround help? @Chase-Deleon
