Video shows up as green screen

Hi, recently I bought Movie Studio 13 and I have a problem. I have two videos and 1 video just shows up as a green screen. Both videos are in MP4 format. I have re-installed the program and it didn't help. I was really excited to use this program but I am now disappointed since it does not work. Any help? Thanks,

First, have you got Quicktime installed on your computer, per the program's requirement?

Second, what model of camcorder is this video coming from?

If you open your video clip in a program like G Spot or Media Info, what does it show for the resolution, frame rate and audio and video codecs?

It's not fair to blame the program if you're using video with non-standard codecs.

I have the same problem. It plays absolutely fine outside of Movie Studio.

Of course it's fair to blame the program. People don't even know what codecs are. Sure, if they're paying $400 plus for the pro version, but this is the lightweight "easy to use" version. Movie Studio should be at least asking to install the codecs, or give some clue as to why it won't show anything.

Users that do not find all the solutions to their problems from inside the software could try to find help also from the SCS Knowledgebase.

>>>"Movie Studio should be at least asking to install the codecs, or give some clue as to why it won't show anything."<<<

The SCS KB "clue" can be found here.
Steve G's post gives additional advice.
MediaInfo's Text View info is useful.

Generally most problems are non-standard codec's or user error. Give us the information we need and most of the times we can tell how to get it to work or why it failed. Video editing requires some effort, if you don't want to learn to edit (which includes understanding why some files don't work (codecs and things)) you might NOT find video editing a hobby that is relaxing:).

Same problem. Green screen on video but audio is good. Yesterday the program loaded the same file without any issue, but today doesn't load video. Read the link you provided but I find it dumb that a cheaper program can play both audio and video with no problem but yours doesn't even have an official solution for this.
