What has happened to my waveform display and where are the .sfk-files?

Out of the blue V17 on Windows 10 has stopped creating .sfk-files and thus stopped displaying the audio waveform. How do I get it back to usual behavior so that I can edit again?

In Vegas Pro press CTRL+SHIFT+W, or check in menu: View=>audio event waveforms

Should work at least if you can still hear the audio.
