What is the Sapphire rendering unit?

ashley wrote on 7/29/2018, 3:44 AM

Hi all

Ive not posted here in a few years..... I am looking at the Vegas 15 Pro Suite (i assume its not called Sony Vegas now) which has the Sapphire rending do-dad.....

What does this do, is it worth the money? (i would be upgrading so its only $100 difference between the Pro and Suite so would likely take it anyway).

Also can this be had in a real box or is it download only?

Many Thanks

The Render Unit is what they call the collection of effects that Boris FX has. It includes textures, gradients, etc.. Personally, I think the suites are worth the money because they give you access to programs that normally cost quite a bit more. Now whether you actually need those programs is another story. But you should go to the Boris website and check it out. Version 16 is coming out very soon, so if Magix still has the upgrade for free sale going on, you could get V15Suite, then 16 "for free" when it comes out in August.

In Vegas Pro Suite's web page - https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/vegas-pro-suite/ - scroll down a bit and have a look at the video titled Boris FX - the video demonstrates what Sapphire offers.

Also, for more information about Sapphire, go to Boris FX's website - https://borisfx.com/products/sapphire-units/render/ - I assume but cannot be sure that this is exactly the Sapphire package offered with Vegas Pro Suite, but it will give you an idea about what Sapphire is all about.

I see it, i see what you mean, not something i would use right away, handy to have though (from Pro to Suite is only about $100 as i would be upgrading, kinda no brainier really even to just get the Titler.......

I am sure ive seen the Sapphire plugin for Sketchup 3D (CAD software)....

Did you mean to ask if you'll then get the VP 16 Suite? If so, the current offer does read: "Purchase VEGAS Pro 15 Suite & get Version 16 ($799 value) for FREE". The values mentioned re Edit and Pro are significantly lower in the upgrade offers.

Based on the values mentioned I read that "Purchase VEGAS Pro 15 Suite & get Version 16 ($799 value) for FREE" means "like for like". Try and contact infoservice@magix.net with a pre-sales enquiry to confirm.

I agree, we are in Canada and it says value is $999 which is the cost of the suite. I have sent an email to support@ as they assisted me getting Vegas Pro 13 activated (we are moving desktops).

I should still be in the date time as its the 30/July tomorrow.
