What's the max number of split screens I can put into a video?

Debilizator wrote on 8/23/2018, 3:08 PM

Hi, everyone.

I'm currently using Adobe Premiere Pro but the subscription thing is awful so I want to switch, possibly to Sony Vegas Pro.
I need to be able to place a large number of clips on 1 screen.
This is one of my videos, just to show you what I'm talking about:

I need to be able to make a video like that, possibly with even more simultaneous clips.
I'm thinking of getting Sony Vegas Pro 12 or later, will they be able to do that?

Thanks in advance.

In Vegas Pro, there is no maximum. It is basically how much processing your computer can handle. (there might be a maximum number of tracks which you need for each image, maybe 99 or so).

Vegas Pro 16 is about to be released and it is owned by MAGIX software now. FYI.

Easy to do what you have shown in your video. Maybe think about getting Vegasaur (separate add-on) to make this even easier/faster.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but version 12 really is Sony Vegas, not MAGIX, which had nothing to to with the program prior to version 14.

@JackW

Not sure what your point here is. If the OP wants to buy Vegas, he needs to get it from Magix. He's not going to be buying Vegas 12 from Sony now, is he.

I doubt that Magix will sell him Vegas 12, when 15 is the current version. He'll have to try and find it at somewhere like Amazon.

I don’t remember whether v. 12 could do it anymore, but the recent versions of Vegas Pro can do it very easily. If you want to, you can even animate the positions of all those inserts, so they would travel around, though for this type of video what they do there is well done (and yes, quite easy to do in Vegas Pro).

Actually Magix purchased it at version 13 and did release a modified version 13.

Any version of Vegas Pro can do that - all the way back to Vegas Pro 2.

This is turning in to a really weird thread :)

Why on earth would anyone buy Vegas 12? Heck , you could get Vegas 14 for 20 bucks from Humble Bundle.

But I would hang on until Vegas 16 and check that out first.

The OP did say "12 or later". The Humble Bundle offer mentioned is not currently active AFAIK, in case he's wondering.
