White Balance Tool not working

Nathian-Steir wrote on 2/26/2019, 8:35 AM

This is my second post in 24 hours. I honestly did not expect to have these issues after installing Vegas Pro 15 onto my new Windows 10 64 bit pc. . Anyways, would anyone know how to fix my issue with the white balance tool just not working at all? As a test, I drop the tool on a dark color or different colors and the slider does not move an inch to adjust the white balance?

If you mean the White Balance FX that's no problem with my Pro 15, but you first have to point out the "white" colour you want to balance.

Thanks J-V. I understand you need to do that, but I guess what is confusing me is that my slider will not move to show the amount of correction no matter what color I click on for it?

@Nathian-Steir I cannot duplicate your problem, as the sliders work fine. Can you post a screenshot of your timeline and White Balance FX? If you start a new project and use nothing but the White Balance FX, do the slider still not work?

After uninstalling and reinstalling Vegas it seems to be working? I will keep an eye on it, because I feel like it's working randomly?

Eagle Six wrote on 2/26/2019, 11:03 AM

@Nathian-Steir good to hear it is worked out for now. Before you uninstall/reinstall, have you tried doing a full reset? Hold down the 'Ctrl+Shift' keys and double left click on the desktop shortcut. Check the box 'Delete all cached application data', then left click on 'Yes'. This will reset Vegas to it's default install settings and delete the pesky cached application data which sometimes will build up and cause Vegas to do strange things.

It doesn't take long and may solve the issue saving you time to do a reinstall.

Thanks so much! I have not tried that and I will definitely save that for if I feel like I need to do that. It's good to know. You guys have saved me so much time. I am super grateful for the help I am receiving on this forum!

I've had those random fails also. I use AAVColorLab instead, and/or IGNITE EXPRESS WB before the Vegas one.

wwjd: I also have AAVColorlab (Aav_ColorLab_1_0_rc2_x64) on WIndows 7 with Vegas 15 and 16. I love using it but it just lags behind when I play the clip with that effect in the timeline (even if I drop the quality to draft), it just cant seem to play the clip until I remove the effect. In Vegas 13, I just get a black screen after the effect is applied.

I suppose it depends on computer power? A common practice is to BYPASS effects on timeline until you are really ready to use them to color and render. You dont have to White Balance while cutting the edit together. And it is FREEWARE so, buyer beware. ;)

Can you tell me what I am doing wrong? On my old computer It seems to have worked, but I am using a 4k monitor now on windows 10. https://vimeo.com/320898857/033e46c90c

what I do in that situation is remove and re-add the WB plugin. I always select DEFAULT between dropper selections when testing, and also never user that blown out window area, because if it is fully blown out, it has nothing to really balance out. Maybe bring up the RGB Parade to "SEE" what the slider effects.
