White Noise generated over all audio

UrbanRam wrote on 5/10/2022, 12:43 PM

I've just installed Vegas 19 Pro and SoundForge Audio Studio 15 (previously I just had Vegas Pro 19 installed). Since the new installation, after starting Vegas Pro, all sound on my computer is accompanied by loud white noise - eg when playing sound on a webpage or even system sounds. This renders Vegas and SoundForge unusable. The sound returns to normal after a reboot until Vegas/SoundForge are started. Any ideas how to solve this? Thanks.

There are two procedures you can try,
1, Reset Sound Forge.. then Vegas if the issue remains.
In the SF 'File' menu, select "Reset and clear cached data". Close and restart Sound Forge.
Alternate method: Hold the "Ctrl + Shift" keys and launch Sound Forge which will exhibit the same dialog. (as I recall VP uses the "Ctrl + Shift- launch" procedure to reset... or look it up in the VP forum's "FAQs and TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDES"

2. The screeching noise could also be caused by the Magix Low Latency 2016 driver. which is installed with Sound Forge Audio Studio..The noise affects Sound Forge, Vegas and sometimes other audio apps. Removing the Magix 2016 Low Latency driver usually fixes the issue. See this comment and instructions from Magix:

btw, welcome to the Magix forums community @UrbanRam.

Thank you. Deleting the Magix 2016 Low Latency driver seems to have solved the problem with the white noise, although there are still some older programs that seem to have their sound messed up - nothing too critical.

It seemed I was forced to post a message before gaining access to the forum, which seems a bit bizarre! I have another problem with a "Renew the Update Service" pop up appearing no matter how many times I "Start installation" but I'll search for that now. Thanks for your help.

The (Sound Forge) "Renew the Update Service" is broken and will allegedly be fixed. It is a separate application in the 'Program files> Common files' folder and can be uninstalled (or eliminated otherwise). See this thread on the Sound Forge forum and/or search the forum for other comments removing the Update Service annoyance.

Thank you. I found that post. I don't really understand why Magix has completely different forums requiring separate logins for closely related products. It adds an unnecessary level of complexity. I have to say I'm regretting my upgrade but the response on the user forums has been excellent.

That was the decision made by MAGIX (the parent company) when they took over most of the Sony Creative Software Software products in 2016. They classified the audio products as "MAGIX products". The other acquired products are developed by VEGAS Creative Software ( a subsidiary) and "VEGAS products".
