So I just installed the Vegas Pro 17 trial and lo and behold it features colorful icons. And it seems Vegas Pro 16 did too. Just as Sony Movie Studio 10 did. Meanwhile, Sony Movie Studio 16 has gray icons.
I'm not happy about this. Another feature removed when I moved from Movie Studio 10 to Movie Studio 16, even though it is available in Vegas Pro 16 & 17.
Any comments on this?

This was removed from Movie Studio versions, when the first MAGIX release v.14 came out. It's been the same in all MAGIX Vegas Movie Studio versions since, i.e. 15 and 16 as well. The last Sony/SCS versions were v.13. (There are no Sony Movie Studio versions of 14, 15, or 16 released, only MAGIX versions. Please read here.)
vkmast, well that may well be the case, but for me, moving from Movie Studio 10 to Movie Studio 16, it looks like I'm losing functionality (also see my earlier post about the threaded media generator, Video FX, Transition views removed in Movie Studio), and to add insult to injury, that functionality exists in Vegas Pro.
I can't help but to have the feeling like they are motivating us to upgrade to Vegas Pro by removing functionality in Movie Studio, not by improving Vegas Pro.
Generally, in Movie Studio(s) you will not get all the same features that are included in the much higher priced Vegas Pro(s). There are many other changes than the colour since v.10 in v.16 that you will come across. Hopefully some of them will increase functionality for you.

Well, to be honest, if I need to pay for Vegas Pro to recover functionality I had in Vegas Movie Studio 10, then maybe it also makes sense for me to look into video editors by other companies.
