Will Movie Studio 17 project files open in Movie Studio 17 Platinum?

I've been working on something in the MV17 trial and i want to export it once ive purchased the software. I was thinking of getting Platinum which apparently has a lot more features, but I want to make absolutely sure that platinum will open the original MV17 project files before i get it. Can someone confirm this please?

A difficult question as most of us Platinum users don't have any projects done with Basic. I expect they will but two suggestions.

  1. Are you able to download and register a Platinum trial in addition to your Basic trial? You could then try for yourself.
  2. Create a short Basic project and upload somewhere like Google Drive so we can download and try. Don't worry that we won't have your source material.

I am able to open Movie Studio 17 .vf project files in Movie Studio 17 Platinum. Not doing it from the trial though, but both save as .vf project files. But do test as @EricLNZ suggests.

Btw, we both see from the title of your post that your "MV" refers to Movie Studio. MS and MSP are more common/correct here.

Ok, i've made a very basic test file like you've suggested. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1N_l1Mli6Y20civ-eoArP72f2_n0S3STm/view?usp=sharing

It should be ten seconds long, has a song, a graphic, and a few pieces of text.

Also @vkmast I'm not sure what i was thinking when i was using that acronym, haha. Perhaps I was mixing up Movie Studio and Vegas subconsciously or something like that.

EDIT: Alright, I've decided to go with EricLNZ's first suggestion and it works. So a .vf file, atleast from Basic edition, is compatible with both versions.
