The $99 update is NLE specific plus a Stand Alone.
If you have more than 1 NLE installed take great care whilst updating NBT2 to NBT3 otherwise all NLE's will show NBT3 but only one will be activated. You need your elected NLE on NBT3 and other NLE's on NBT2.
I'm not sure that there is a limitation on TP3 with regards to the number of NLEs that can accept TP3 on an install on the one computer because jetdv (of NBFX) wrote on 20 May:
"Titler Pro 3 will work in all supported NLEs you have installed on the Windows computer you are using. It is not cross-platform. To run on the Mac you would also need a Mac serial number. We can get you cross-platform pricing for that, though. Just contact NewBlue if you need both platforms."
I have both VP12 & Edius installed and elected VP as my NLE when I made the purchase. After running the update both Edius & VP showed NBT3 as being available. No activation was required to run within VP but Edius needed activation. The activation code provided by NB would not activate Edius
Luckily I had made a system image before updating NB. Restored from the image and reinstalled NBT3 update. Deselected Edius during the install. Now VP shows NBT3 whilst Edius shows NBT2. Would have preferred it the other way round but NB seems more stable within VP than Edius but at least the stand-alone works.
All NewBlue installers are "Trial" installers and should run fine for two weeks with no watermarks. All retail installers will require activation or the watermark will eventually appear.
You can install Titler Pro 3 into all supported video editors you have installed. Activate once and you can use Titler Pro 3 in all supported video editors. You are not limited to a single NLE.
Following Edwards post I restored back to my earlier image with NBT2 working in VP12 & Edius6v5
It gets more interesting. After restoring the image I opened VP12 and checked NBT2 was present. It was now showing as deactivated on the timeline (big X), but 'help' showed a serial number and an option to deactivate. Deactivation failed.
Closed VP and opened Edius. Pulled NBT2 to timeline and opened a saved title. All OK and clearly activated.
Closed Edius and installed NBT3 update. Rebooted and opened Edius.
NBT3 showing. Pulled NBT3 to the timeline and was immediately offered a 14 day trial or the option to activate. Entered the NBT3 serial and titler activated. Pulled in a 'saved' title (NBT2) and all was well. Closed Edius.
Reopened VP12. This time NBT3 was showing as activated and again accepted a pre-saved clip.
Just pleased to know I was wrong but puzzled by myearlier experience..
Will contact NB with regard to the deactivation error mssg
I can say with confidence that there is nothing in Titler Pro 3 that will prevent it from working in as many supported NLEs as you have installed. The process really is:
1. Install to all supported NLEs
2. Activate in any of the NLEs or the standalone version or by going to Start - Programs - NewBlue - Titler Pro 3 - Manage Activation
3. Use it in all supported NLEs or the standalone version.
As Geoff has been e-mailing with NewBlue support and all this same information has been presented there, no more information needs to be given here. We are working with him to make sure any activation issues are resolved.
