AC-3 not recognized in MPEG-2 file

Bertrand-H wrote on 12/18/2020, 7:34 AM

I purchased Vegas Pro 18 edit yesterday.

Trying to work on an MPG-2 file (DVD) with AC-3 audio.

Vegas Pro 14 has no problem with it.

However, Vegas Pro 18 build 373 does not recognize the audio and will not load it. See file.

That was fast. Thank you.

I am not sure I am happy with the decision to remove support for mpeg-2.

You're not the only one, but that's the way it is for now, unfortunately.

Support has not been removed, however there were some complications with the import of mpeg files with ac-3. We are working to get this support back.

@VEGASDerek Thank you for explaining. I have decided to use my right of withdrawal and ask for a refund. Too inconvenient.

@VEGASDerek @vkmast I have decided to continue to use version 18 after all because it contains support for my GPU, which means faster rendering.

However, I do hope that full support for mpeg-2 is reintroduced soon. I miss it very much. It is my Christmas wish. Hope you can make it happen in the near future?
