Accidentally reset my settings and now preview bad

When I first got Sony Movie Studio 13 I had a terrible preview quality. I messed around with the settings and something I changed made it preview very very smoothly in very good quality. My problem is I reset my settings and now no matter what quality I choose the preview is so bad I can't use the product. I'm desperate to find out what the magic setting I was using was and I feel like I've exhausted every option trying to get it working like it was only yesterday.

I searched the entire internet, read article after article, watched literally 40 youtube tutorials, and nothing remotely even improves my preview quality. Can someone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?

Thank you kindly

Have you read Help > Contents > Previewing your project > Video Preview window > Adjusting the preview quality and resolution?
And Achieving smooth playback in the Video Preview window?
(All options may not be available in the basic MS 13.)

Unfortunately I have meticulously gone through all the settings and watched all the videos and read more articles and still nothing. In my previous configuration, I simply adjusted a setting or two in MS13 to get the preview screen smooth and great quality. It was as simple as a few clicks of the mouse and I know it was a general setting because I never had to do anything special between projects. I simply opened MS 13 and started editing. Big files too: gopro 1080, 4k drove videos, etc.

I will set the cash reward starting at $20 to the first person who can tell me what setting I have wrong, I am desperate to get back to editing!!!!

and yes I also have read through the help section within ms13.

I read your post once and didn't pick up on one key point....

"...made it preview very very smoothly in very good quality....and nothing remotely even improves my preview quality."

The key question is whether you want smoother playback or better quality?

In MS12 (MS13 should work the same way), right click on the preview window. A feature called 'adjust size and quality for optimal playback is present". This is included in the document vlkmast provided previously. Having a checkmark next to this setting allows Movie Studio to consider the resources available and reduces the quality to allow for smooth playback. If you want better quality (possibly less smooth), make sure it is unchecked and make sure the the preview quality (at the top of the preview window shows Best>Full).

Does that help?
