An error occurred while writing a file. Reason could not be determined

Trying to create a music/video compilation using DVD
Architect, Version 5.0 (Build 186). Selecting the Preview seems like everything
works great.  Next step, Make DVD... I
get a message, "An error occurred while writing a file. The reason for the
error could not be determined".
During this process, the
"Rendering" looks like it completes. About 3 or 4 files into the
"Preparing" stage it errors out. Looking into the DVD project folder,
there are only 3 files... VIDEO_TS, VTS_01_0, and VTS_01_1.

I'm running this on Window 7 Professional (64bit). I've also
just loaded DVD Architect on my laptop, running Windows 10... I have the exact
same issue on both computers.

I've tried changing files, audio file types (MP3 or WAV),
video or picture files (AVI, MP4 or BMP). nothing wants to work.

I get the error if I have more than 1 audio file in the
compilation. Works ok if there is ONLY 1 audio file... which defeats the
purpose of making a compilation disc!
I'm still able to create other DVD projects or remake old projects...
looks like just the making a Music/Video Compilation option doesn't work.

Is there maybe some update or patch, or anything else to resolve this issue?

Thanks, KenS

Have you tried rendering the files in Vegas to a DVD compliant MPEG2 template for video and an audio format like SonyWave64 or Dolby Digital?

It's always best to render the disc compliant files in Vegas than to let DVD Architect re-compress or encode them for you. Audio and video have to be separate.

Have you gone through the Show Me How Tutorial section "Creating a Music/Video Compilation" just in case you overlooked something?

Btw, build 186 was the last update of Sony DVD Architect Studio 5.0.

Looks like the issue is the video file(s) (or lack of one). I set the compilation video/image using .bmp files in DVDA. Seems DVDA doesn't like that for some reason, yet it does let you choose them for insertion?!!

I don't have Vegas, but do have Movie Studio Platinum. So I made a small 10sec. video file using the .bmp file for each one I wanted to use. Set those instead of the .bmp files and DVDA was able to prepare and burn a disc successfully. All I wanted to do is burn 16 of my SACD Hybrid disc to a single 8.5GB DVD (keeping the CD files in .wav format) to play in my vehicle.

I still think there's some kind of issue with DVDA as I would think it should have been able to do something with the .bmp files? Oh well, at least I found a workaround with your solution idea.

THANKS!!

Yes. As I'm not using my DVD making programs that often, I almost always have to relearn what I need to do. I did the step-by-step process you mentioned... as one of the steps is "In the set video/image dialog, select the video or image you want to use."... well "or image" just doesn't work! As I mentioned in my response to Teagan, If the software lets you select it, then it should have worked, right??!! At least I was able to get this done, just had to do it in a more complicated way. Thanks very much for your suggestion.
